Never have I ever had a mentor like Catherine before. No one who went out of their way to prove to me that I had potential. She did this when she nominated me for an Aspire! Award. I was so surprised that someone I respected so greatly thought of me in such a high manner. Catherine made me see something in myself: worth. She taught me that even though I may not excel in classroom settings with strict deadlines and topic, I still have the opportunity and chance to work in a different environment. Catherine has inspired me to go out of my comfort zone and talk about things that matter to me even if it sparks some debate. I am so happy I joined SERVE and got to be Catherine's student.

I have had two conferences with Wei-Ning this semester. She is a very relatable and kind person. Talking to her about difficult situations is easy. I was very embarrassed to admit that I had slacked off in class, but talking to Wei-Ning made me feel a little better because she focused on the future. Her idea was this: yes, I messed up, but what can we learn from that failure? This concept is new to me because I have always been so hard on myself causing my anger to overshadow my logic. Wei-Ning has forced me to reduce that anger at myself and instead direct those intense emotions towards bettering myself. I am truly grateful for the time I got to sit down and talk with her because she has really helped me grow!
